Maruti Suzuki India, India's biggest manufacturer of cars, has still not finalised the site required for its manufacturing plant which was supposed to be set up in Gujarat. As stated by the executive officer of Maruti, IV Rao, who had arrived for the launch of the new Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Suzuki India is in constant communication with the state authorities but nothing is still finalised in regards of the area of land and the time its possession. Rao further enforced that the main motive of the plant was to strengthen the export department via Mundra port, but the whole matter has not been presented before the board for their consent yet.
He further said that the idea behind this plant was thought of when the growth rate of the company was 18 percent in early 2011, but now with the demand dropping considerably. Nothing further has been achieved in this matter, as the already existing plants of Gurgaon and Manesar could easily satisfy this demand. After the setting up of the 3rd site at Manesar, the yearly output of Maruti will be close to 1.75 million units. The rise in the output would in turn reduce the wait for diesel car sales.
